ESMA rules for tokenization - Jan 2019
ESMA has issued its recommendation on ICO and cryptoassets. ESMA has confirmed that many of the tokens issued are considered as transferable securities/financial instruments. Therefore, the EU market regulation should apply. In particular, trading platforms should comply with them as well. As regards the decentralized platforms, there is a need to change the existing regulation to cover them by the relevant requirements.with
